November 2005

Dear Boston Scholars Supporter:

Greetings! We are pleased to update you on the exciting happenings at Boston Scholars.

The End of the 2005 Fiscal Year is Fast Approaching
The Boston Scholars Program is wholly funded by the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations. Together, we can open doors through educational opportunity for disadvantaged Boston-area youth and help them reach their potential. Please join in the effort to offer these young people access to and support throughout a rigorous high school experience by making your gift today. The 2005 Annual Giving campaign runs until December 31, 2005.

Boston Scholars Masquerade Party a Success!
The animated scene at Felt on October 29 overshadowed the snowy night outside. Over 250 guests, including business leaders, educators, graduate students, and young professionals, gathered in costume to raise $12,000 for the Boston Scholars Program, surpassing the fundraising success of any Boston Scholars event to date. Thanks to event sponsors Palmer & Dodge LLC, Felt, and Ketel One, all ticket sales and silent auction revenue went directly to the Program.
Thank you to everyone who made the evening such a success!

Boston Scholars Lend a Hand at the Dorchester Open Studios

On October 22, Boston Scholars and their Mentors gathered at the First Parish Church in Dorchester for the Dorchester Open Studios, a neighborhood-wide celebration of art in the Dorchester community. This 4th annual Open Studios event featured visual arts displays, music, theater, comedy and film from over 70 artists who live or work in the neighborhood. Scholars and Mentors helped set up art exhibits, cleaned the grounds around the church, advertised the event, and met the artists while viewing the exhibits.
