Dear Boston
Scholars Supporter:
The Boston
Scholars Program is entering the summer coming off of a busy spring!
In the past month we have continued our track record of success by completing
our federal nonprofit filing far ahead of the required schedule, organizing
two events with our scholars and their mentors, and launching our second
fundraising campaign. Please read on to learn more about the exciting
work our volunteers are doing!
Sincerely,
Board of
Directors, Boston Scholars Program
Boston
Scholars Orientation Cookout and First Mentor Event
Members
of the Boston Scholars Program Class of 2008 will gather on June 6 in
Franklin Park to meet their mentors and learn more about the Program.
We still need more mentors for future Boston Scholars - please contact
info@bostonscholars.org
for more information on mentoring.
The Boston
Scholars and their mentors will also be traveling to see the Pawtucket
Red Sox play on June 27. This is the first of many upcoming events for
the scholars and their mentors. If you are interested in helping plan
this or future event, please contact us at info@bostonscholars.org.
Boston
Scholars Program Moves Forward with State and Federal Regulations
BSP has
received a certificate of solicitation from the state of Massachusetts,
confirming our status as a public charity and allowing us to solicit
funding from the public. We also filed our nonprofit tax application
with the IRS -- almost a year ahead of the deadline -- and expect to
be certified as a 501c3 nonprofit organization on schedule.
