2006
Dear
Boston Scholars Supporter:
The start of the New Year is a thrilling time for the Boston Scholars
Program. We have many successes to report thanks to your support, and
we are carrying that momentum into 2006 as we select new Scholars from
our most promising applicants to date, build corporate and community
partnerships, and reach out to involve many more volunteers in the Program.
A
Record-breaking Fundraising Year
The Boston Scholars Program is pleased to announce that the Program
surpassed its fundraising goal and raised over $200,000 in the 2005
fiscal year, more than doubling the 2004 fundraising effort. Major donors
include Keds Corporation, SolidWorks Corporation, Cabot Family Trust,
Lincoln and Therese Filelne Foundation, Newman's Own, Liberty Mutual
Foundation, A.C. Ratshesky Foundation, and Stephenson Pope Babcock Foundation.
We are truly grateful for all of your support.

Scholar
Honored by the Keds Corporation
On November 17, Boston Scholars Aviana, a sophomore at The Newman School,
and Mark, a first year at South Kent School, received the Keds Award
for exceptional integrity and commitment to all things "cool"
- leadership, scholarship, mentor partnership, merit, and community
service. Aviana and her Mentor Elise spoke about their BSP experiences
as Keds Corp. made a $50,000 pledge to the Program.
 |
"I'm
hopeful that my involvement in Avi's life, particularly over these
next few years, will be additive - as friend, mentor and sounding
board as she makes decisions about the future," the Mentor
explained to the audience.
Aviana
has already seen the impact of Elise's friendship and support.
|
"Elise
has been there for me whenever I needed someone to talk to, and for that
I thank her and truly hold her dear as a member of my family."
With the
backing of Keds, the Boston Scholars Program will be able to offer many
more students the opportunity to build a relationship like Aviana's
and Elise's to provide support through rigorous high school experiences
and college preparation.
Boston

"Everybody
can be great, because everybody can serve."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s words continue to serve as an inspiration
for all of us to strengthen communities by giving of our time. Boston
Scholars has a couple ways to get involved:
Events
- BSP's spring fundraising event will be a wine dinner, and we are putting
together an event committee to design a fun and elegant evening. A save
the date and more details coming soon!
Mentoring
- mentor enrollment begins in February for the Boston Scholars Class
of 2010. Mentoring is a unique opportunity to make a direct difference
in the life of a child by providing friendship, mentoring, and educational
opportunity.
Public
Relations - do you have experience in PR? Help us tell the compelling
story of the Boston Scholars Program.
Board
of Affiliates - The BSP Board of Affiliates is comprised of donors
at the $100 level or greater who also elect to give of their time and
creative energy through special volunteering opportunities. Affiliates
are recognized publicly for their service on committees and are afforded
VIP invitations to key events sponsored throughout the year. Join
the 2006 Board of Affiliates today!
If you
are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please email
us today.
Sincerely,
The Boston
Scholars Program
