Dear Boston
Scholars Supporter:
We are
coming off an exciting time for the program - our applications more
than doubled from last year, and we held the second annual party with
a purpose with much success! In addition, there are two great ways you
can get involved today with the Boston Scholars Program: Become
a mentor and Join
our Half-Marathon team - read more about all of this news below.
Thank you
for your support,

Two Great Volunteer Opportunities: Boston Scholars
needs your help to continue to grow and support our scholars, and here
are two great ways to volunteer your time to help make a difference...
Be
a Boston Scholars Mentor!
Boston Scholars are matched with individuals just like you, looking
to make a positive difference in the life of child and perhaps even
rediscover the kid who lives inside of you, again. By getting together
a couple of hours every other week with a scholar, mentors build a one-to-one
friendship with their Scholars through their advice, ideas and perspective
which will assist in preparing Scholars for educational and career opportunities
beyond high school. All we ask for is a 9 to 12 month commitment for
a few hours every couple weeks - please
email wendy@bostonscholars.org to find out more today!
Join
the Boston Scholars Half-Marathon Team!
BSP Volunteers Jen Kirby and Scott Milam are organizing a team of runners
to compete in the Big Lake Half-Marathon and raise money for our cause
at the same time. Over 15 Boston Scholars supporters have already signed
up to compete in this fun event on May 7 in Alton, NH and achieve a
goal of $4,000 in donations -- enough for a 4 year scholarship for one
of our Boston Scholars. Click
here to visit the Boston Scholars Half-Marathon Team Website to learn
more about the event, the people competing and to learn how to support
the team.
Another
Successful Party with a Purpose
Over 150 supporters and volunteers sipped complimentary Ketel One
martinis at Sanctuary on March 5 to raise money for the Boston Scholars
Program at the Second Annual Party with Purpose. In addition to the
fabulous venue and cocktails, we held a live auction hosted by Erika
Ebbel, Miss Massachusetts and Founder of the Whiz Kids Foundation, a
partner organization. This event raised over $5,000 for the Boston Scholars
Program to help fulfill our mission of "opening doors through educational
opportunity" - thank you all for your generous support.
